Candle Safety & Tips
We want you to enjoy your Foxlight candle for as long as possible, whilst also ensuring your safety.
Wax Has Memory
- The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to pool all the way to the outer edges of the glass jar. Allowing a full melt pool creates even burn and maximum fragrance throw, whilst also preventing tunneling.
Candle Placement
- Always burn candles on a flat, heat-resistant surface
- Never leave a lit candle unattended
- Don't leave a candle burning while you are sleeping
- Keep away from children and pets
- Keep away from drafts e.g. fans, doorways, or windows
Longevity
- Keep the wood wick trimmed in between burns. Not trimming the wick at all can lead to a larger flame and your candle burning too hot. This can also create sooting
- Alternatively, If the wick is trimmed too short, it can become buried by the wax as the candle burns, please trim carefully to around 5mm
- If your candle’s flame starts to burn or flicker wildly and does not calm down, extinguish your candle, wait a few hours, then trim the cooled wick before relighting
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at one time
Keep It Safe
- Discard or recycle your candle jar when there is 10mm of wax left
- Do not add dried flowers or debris to the candle, as any foreign object can get too close to the flame, catch fire, and result in damage (burning under/near dried flowers or pampas is also a fire risk)
- Do not use room sprays or other flammable sprays near open flame
- Never move or touch the candle jar when the wax is in liquid form
- Never extinguish a candle with water - snuffing a candle is the best way to extinguish!
